Tao Kan (259 – July 30, 334), courtesy name Shixing (also recorded as Shiheng), was originally from Xiaoyang County, Poyang Commandery (present-day Duchang, Jiangxi), and later relocated to Xunyang, Lujiang (present-day Jiujiang, Jiangxi). He was a renowned general during the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

Coming from a humble background, Tao Kan initially served as a county official before gradually rising to become a commandery governor. In the fifth year of the Yongjia era (311), he was appointed Prefect of Wuchang. In the first year of the Jianxing era (313), he became Inspector of Jingzhou. His career culminated in the positions of Palace Attendant, Grand Marshal, Inspector of Jing and Jiang Provinces, and Military Commander of Eight Provinces, and he was enfeoffed as the Duke of Changsha.
