Dà'ào Fēngzé Lake Scenic Area

Dà'ào Fēngzé Lake Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Fengzé Lake, also known as Dà'ào Reservoir, is located in the Wufu Mountain Basin. Wufu Mountain got its name because its highest peak, Wufu Mountain Ridge, stands at an elevation of 1,891.4 meters. From its summit, one can see the ancient prefectures of Guangxin and Raozhou in Jiangxi, Nanping in Fujian, and Quzhou and Jinhua in Zhejiang—hence the name.

Wufu Mountain, often shrouded in mist, has long been celebrated for its lush greenery, beautiful waters, and pleasant climate. With the completion of Jiangxi Province’s key water conservancy project—the largest water project in the Shangrao area—Dà'ào Reservoir, its vast expanse of 9.5 square kilometers of water has further enhanced its picturesque landscape and charm. Since the reservoir is located in the heart of what is locally known as the legendary fairyland “Seven Stars Chasing the Moon,” it is also called “Seven Star Lake.”

The creation of Seven Star Lake has achieved a perfect harmony between mountain and water in this magical and beautiful part of Wufu Mountain.

In addition, the lake area is home to a variety of famous trees, blooming flowers, and many nationally protected rare plants and animals. It also features notable cultural and historical sites such as the “Shengtang Temple” and “Jianggong Temple,” as well as scenic spots like the “Golden Bell Waterfall” and “Golden Basin Raising Carp,” along with the site of the Red Army’s Haoling Battle.
