Lingshan Stone Tea
Lingshan Stone Tea grows in the crevices of cliffs at altitudes above 800 meters on Lingshan Mountain in Shangrao County. It is one of the rare tree species on Lingshan. The tea plants have tall stems, round and thick leaves, and deep green color. The tea has a unique flavor, with a taste that is slightly sour, salty, bitter, and astringent, yet leaves a cool sensation in the throat. It helps quench thirst, clear heat, detoxify, and relieve summer heat, making it effective against feverish coughs and throat inflammations. Due to the high and cold growing environment, its harvesting period is more than a month later than that of ordinary tea. Local women go up the mountain around the Beginning of Summer each year to pick the tea, which is then processed into dried stone tea and stored in ceramic jars. The older the stone tea, the cooler its effect. People in Lingshan replace their stored tea with last year’s vintage for drinking in the hot summer, while tea that has been aged for many years is often given as gifts to family and friends. Lingshan Stone Tea is a rare eco-friendly health beverage with high development value and broad market potential.
