Henggang Bridge

Henggang Bridge is located at the northern entrance of Huangzhu Village in the county town, where the Sheping River flows into the Litang River. It is a two-pier, three-arch stone bridge, measuring 40.5 meters in length and 4.8 meters in width. The middle section of the bridge features a rectangular pavilion with a tiled roof, wooden beams, and brick walls, stretching 16 meters in length and 5 meters in width. Originally a ferry crossing, a wooden footbridge was built here during the Song Dynasty, and it was replaced by a stone arch bridge in the 15th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1750). The inscriptions “Henggang Bridge” on the gate plaques at both ends of the bridge pavilion were written in the 16th year of the Guangxu reign (1890) during a renovation, by Tao Sikan, a calligrapher from the county. The bridge was recently restored to resemble its original appearance.
