Zhang Xun Manor

Zhang Xun Manor is located in the central part of Chitian Village, Chitian Town, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. The manor is surrounded by mountains and water, boasting picturesque scenery, unique architecture, and a grand scale. Zhang Xun was a prominent figure in modern Chinese history, best known for orchestrating the 12-day restoration of the Qing emperor in 1917. This manor was a private residence built by Zhang Xun after he made his fortune.

The construction of the manor began in 1896 and was completed in 1918, taking a total of 29 years and costing hundreds of thousands of silver dollars. Major structures within the estate include: the Kunyi Ancestral Hall, Zizheng Mansion, Guanyin Pavilion, Jianwei Mansion, Guanglu Grand Master Mansion, Qianliu Study, pawnshop, kitchen, memorial archway, Zhang Family Ancestral Hall, and a large surrounding wall. Most of the buildings are ancestral hall-style structures, built with brick and wood, and feature a three-courtyard layout. The interior pillars, beams, and paneling are all coated with raw lacquer and fabric, adorned with paintings of mythological legends, floral and animal motifs, and geometric patterns. The exterior corridors are winding, serene, and tranquil.
