The “Water Deed” stone carving is located in Dianxia Village, Liuxi Township, Fengxin County. The “Water Deed” was inscribed in two stages, with the following content: “Officially purchased in perpetuity, established in the Dingmao year of the Tongzhi reign. The landowner Liu Weiren purchased the water rights of the upper main slope, managing □□. This deed is kept as proof of the managed rights.” “In the Guimao year of the Guangxu reign, the landowner □□ren purchased, bought a portion of the water rights of this slope, managing according to the deed.” These were deeds used by nearby villagers at the time to purchase irrigation water, reflecting the custom of using contracts to regulate the use of water for production and daily life among villagers.
