The Blue Clan's Chastity Archway in Yangshan

The Blue Clan's Chastity Archway in Yangshan is located in Daping Village, Yangshan Township, Fengxin County. It is built from granite in imitation of wooden structures, featuring four pillars, three gates, and triple eaves. The archway is 7.9 meters wide and 12 meters tall. Stone drums are placed beneath the pillars. The surface is intricately carved with various delicate patterns. The central bay features three lintel beams, with panels between them. The front side of the panels is inscribed with “Archway Honoring the Blue Clan Woman of the Zhong Family” and “As Firm as Pine and Cypress,” while the back side is inscribed with “Chastity Archway” and “Imperial Bestowment.” The front also bears the inscription “Imperial Edict,” and the back reads “Bestowed by the Emperor.” All the above texts are carved in intaglio regular script.
