Former Site of the Shixi District Soviet Government

The former site of the Shixi District Soviet Government is located in Tongmu Village, Zaoxi Township, Fengxin County. This old building faces west and is built with a brick-and-wood structure. In early 1934, after the Dabuqiao Conference, the central county committee, with the help of the Red Sixteenth Army, established the Shixi District Committee of the Communist Party of China. At the same time, the Shixi Township Soviet Government was formed, with the district soviet headquartered here. After the government was established, it mobilized the masses to carry out land revolution. In February 1934, Division Commander Xiao Ke led the Red Seventeenth Army Division to station here, and he resided at this location with his troops, organizing and conducting pilot work for the land revolution. Currently, the building is well-preserved and retains multiple slogans from the Red Army as well as artifacts from the Soviet period. The former site of the Shixi District Soviet Government holds significant historical value and offers high research importance for understanding the history of the revolutionary struggle of the people of Fengxin County, as well as the history of the development of the Hunan-Jiangxi-Hubei Base Area towards the southeast and the establishment of the Wumei Mountain Base Area.
