Wujia Village Kiln Site

The Wujia Village Kiln Site is a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit.

The Wujia Village Kiln Site is located near Wujia Village at Yaoli Reservoir in Chengshang Township and was discovered in the early 1980s. In March 2018, the site was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government.

The surface is scattered with fragments of bluish-white porcelain, black-glazed porcelain, and a small number of blue-and-white porcelain pieces imitating Longquan kiln styles and those fired in local kilns. The black-glazed porcelain features pure glaze color, with brownish-yellow hues appearing on the rim and thinner-glazed areas of the body, which have become a typical characteristic of Wujia Kiln’s black-glazed ware. There are also a small number of pieces with hare’s fur patterns and splashed glaze variations. The glaze does not cover the base of the vessels, and the inner bottom retains an unglazed rough circle measuring 1–3 cm in diameter, though no spacer rings are found—indicating traces of direct stacking firing. This kiln site holds significant value for the study of the development of Jiangxi’s porcelain industry.
