Since its opening, Daming County Museum has been committed to spreading outstanding culture, providing free access to the public, and serving the people; it is dedicated to the discovery and protection of cultural relics, bringing the collections in the museum to life to narrate the region’s history; and it works to promote local cultural development by organizing cultural events and delivering educational programs, fulfilling the role of the museum as a cultural hub. Daming Museum brings together the finest cultural relics, precious collections, and intangible cultural heritage of the county. The museum's permanent exhibition focuses on the evolution of the prefectural city, consisting of the "Historical and Cultural Exhibition," three thematic sections on historical culture — "Tang and Song Dynasties Famous City," "Ming and Qing Dynasties Daming," and "Daming Folk Customs" — as well as one section on intangible cultural heritage. Spanning from the dawn of civilization in the Neolithic Age to Daming being a “key stronghold in Hebei” during the Sui and Tang dynasties, from the establishment of a secondary capital during the Five Dynasties period to becoming the second-largest city after the capital in the Northern Song Dynasty, and from being a regional center during the Ming and Qing dynasties to the establishment of the Daming Special District in the early Republic of China, this millennia-long legacy showcases the enduring ancient culture. The Daming Museum fully presents to you the glorious history of Daming Prefecture and the development of its folk culture.
