Township Community Memorial Archway

The Township Community Memorial Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Anfu County.

The Township Community Memorial Archway was originally built in the Dinghai year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty, and expanded into a memorial hall during the mid-Qing Dynasty. It features a brick, stone, and timber structure. The combined floor area of the archway and hall is 306.53 square meters, with a width of 17.24 meters and a depth of 17.78 meters. The archway itself covers an area of 44.27 square meters. It faces east and is situated to the west.

The Township Community Memorial Archway is finely crafted and provides tangible insight into Ming Dynasty craftsmanship and regional culture, making it of high historical and cultural value.

The Kang clan, founders of Mengtan Village, have produced many notable figures throughout history, with twelve individuals achieving the status of either jinshi (advanced scholars) or juren (provincial degree holders) during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Prominent figures include Kang Yuanji, Kang Yuansui, and Kang Wuduan.

In front of the Township Community Memorial Archway lies the Xiangshui section of the Xiao River, once a key golden waterway for canal transport. In ancient times, the village served as a dock hub.
