Wenchang Pavilion Altar

The Wenchang Pavilion Altar is a cultural relic protection unit of Anfu County.

The Wenchang Pavilion Altar is located in Xiaoshi Natural Village, Chajiang Village, Yangmen Township, within the campus of Chajiang Primary School. It covers an area of 195 square meters and stands about 6 meters high. The altar has four tiers, each progressively smaller, with a circular platform that has a circumference of 20.6 meters and a diameter of 6 meters. There are stair entrances on the four cardinal directions—east, south, west, and north. The steps are built with stone blocks, are 1.5 meters wide and 1.6 meters high, with three steps per tier, and the entire altar is enclosed by stone walls.

According to local residents, the Wenchang Pavilion Altar was primarily used to worship deities such as Heaven, Earth, the Five Grains, local spirits, and founding ancestors. The altar provides physical evidence for the study of local cultural history and religious beliefs.
