Chewu Tiger-shaped Enclosure

The Chewu Tiger-shaped Enclosure is located in Fangwupai, Chewu Village, Lishi Town, Dingnan County, and was first built in the 51st year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1786). The Tiger-shaped Enclosure is square in shape, facing southeast from the northwest, with a front width of 40 meters and a depth of 33 meters. Backed by the green hills of the Tiger-shaped Dragon Vein Mountain, the building is designed in the shape of a tiger sitting upright and gazing forward. Its gate is crafted in the form of a tiger’s head, hence the name. The architectural design of the Tiger-shaped Enclosure carries two layers of meaning: internally, it symbolizes that the owner of the enclosure exudes vitality and is invincible; externally, it showcases the formidable might of the tiger, appearing sacred and inviolable.
