Quannan Guangming Temple

Quannan Guangming Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Guangming Temple is located within Zhao坑 Forest Farm, at the tail end of Longxing Reservoir, 13 kilometers from the county town. The temple was first built during the Ming Dynasty. Legend has it that immortals once descended here, prompting local residents to fund the construction of two temple buildings and statues of deities. Later, during a severe drought, the then-county magistrate of Longnan County successfully prayed for rain by traveling upstream along the river, and in gratitude, he bestowed a plaque inscribed with “沐雨苍生.”

Guangming Temple was rebuilt in 1990. It now includes one sacred shrine, four residential buildings, six temple halls, and several other supporting facilities. The planned Great Buddha’s Hall is currently under construction. The sacred shrine of Guangming Temple is built against the mountain, with uniquely shaped peaks behind it, a babbling brook in front, and a solemn atmosphere inside. As a representative site of Taoist culture, the temple attracts many devout worshippers every year. Across from it lies Longxing Lake, which currently covers a water surface area of 1.5 square kilometers and features six small islands. At present, the lake only has simple fishing platforms, one pavilion, and one dining facility. There are also two speedboats and several wooden boats on the lake for visitors’ enjoyment.
