Xiefang Zongsheng Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Ganzhou City.

Xiefang Zongsheng Ancestral Hall is located in Citingbei Village Group, Zhentangbei Village, Zhenzi Village, Chengxiang Town, Quannan County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, approximately 4 kilometers northwest of the county seat.

The ancestral hall faces north and sits south. According to the clan genealogy of the Zeng family, the hall was built in the second year of the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty (1404) and completed in the seventh year of Yongle (1409). It was constructed by Rong Qianjiulang, the founding ancestor of the local Zeng family, as a place to worship Zengzi (Zeng Shen), known as the “Zongsheng” (Ancestral Sage)—the orthodox successor of Confucius’ teachings—and has a history of over 600 years.

The ancestral hall is built with a brick-and-timber structure, features a flush-gable roof, and utilizes a hybrid roof truss system of through-tenon and raised-beam construction. It is supported by 16 wooden pillars with a diameter of 0.42 meters and 38 pillars with a diameter of 0.22 meters, all standing 7.4 meters tall. The main hall spans three bays, has two courtyards and three halls, a ridge height of 12 meters, and a total floor area of 976.8 square meters.

As the location of the county seat, it has always been the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire county. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was successively known as Chengxiang Town and Chengguan Town, and reverted to the name Chengxiang Town in 1983.

Before the 28th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty (1902), it belonged to Longnan County. From the 29th year of Guangxu (1893) onward, it became part of Qianan County, under the jurisdiction of the Dalong Fort area.
