Longnan Liyuanwei Tourist Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The miraculous Liyuanwei Bagua Lane features grand architectural scale, diverse styles, and scientifically arranged living facilities. The enclosed compound is surrounded by walls made of finely crafted rough stones, stretching 789 meters (2,366 Chinese feet) in length and standing 4 meters high. Following the principles of the Bagua (Eight Trigrams), gates are built in the east, south, west, and north directions, with 12 watchtowers scattered at the corners. The main structures inside the compound are centered around the Ji Jin Ancestral Hall, along with the Longting Hall, Lishuxia Hall, and Xinzaoxia Hall (one ancestral hall and three halls).

To the east of the “one ancestral hall and three halls” in Liyuanwei lies the 1,500-meter-long Bagua Lane. These lanes are arranged around the Ji Jin Ancestral Hall, reflecting the principles of the Bagua, featuring both life gates and death gates. In ancient times, they could prevent bandits or thieves—those familiar with the layout could move freely, while intruders would easily get trapped in dead ends, allowing the compound’s residents to easily capture or eliminate them. The Bagua Lanes are divided into upper and lower lanes: weddings and other joyous occasions use the upper lane, which connects to the “one ancestral hall and three halls,” while funerals and other somber events use the lower lane.

Although these Bagua Lanes twist and turn, their drainage channels are interconnected, preventing severe flooding even during heavy rain. Despite the narrow alleys, they meet the lighting requirements of ancient architecture. Though built in antiquity, they still largely accommodate the needs of modern life. Truly rare and remarkable！

Liyuanwei was first built in the Xinyou Year of the Hongzhi era (1501), constructed by Li Qing, a fifth-rank official of the Ming Dynasty, and is the largest Hakka walled village in Longnan County. Shaped like a Bagua enclosure, it has a perimeter of 789 meters, covers an area of 68 mu, and features walls 0.6 meters thick and two stories high. Following the Bagua layout, gates are built in the east, south, west, and north directions, with 12 watchtowers at the corners. Inside, there is a walled enclosure within the walled enclosure. The architectural scale is grand, styles are diverse, and the layout of living facilities is scientific. The main buildings are centered around the "one ancestral hall and three halls." The 507-year-old Ji Jin Ancestral Hall is impressively magnificent, with carved beams and painted rafters, and intricately cut brackets.

Liyuanwei not only possesses the common defensive functions of Hakka walled villages but also integrates feng shui principles into its layout, enhancing its production, leisure, and educational functions. In front of the Juerui Hall lies a 6.6-mu fishpond, reflecting the Hakka people’s enduring values of hard work, emphasis on education, and pursuit of development. It is a rare Bagua-shaped walled village among Hakka compounds, and its grand architectural scale and profound cultural history make it a shining jewel among Hakka walled villages in southern Jiangxi. The Yangcun Wushiwei, a typical front-square-back-round walled village, has been featured multiple times on CCTV programs showcasing Hakka life, now attracting countless domestic and international tourists.
