Historical Evolution

In 1956, Jiangyao Township and Zhongsanling Township were merged to form Sanling Township. In 1958, it was incorporated into the suburban area of Handan City as the Sanling Management Area under Hucun Commune. In 1961, Sanling Commune was established, and in 1962 it was returned to Handan County. In 1984, the township was re-established. In 1996, Gongcheng Township was merged into it. By 1997, it covered an area of 60 square kilometers with a population of 23,000.
