Former Site of the Central Publishing Bureau

The Central Publishing Bureau was the administrative body for news, publishing, and distribution under the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic. It was officially established here in December 1931. The bureau included departments such as the Publishing Section, Editorial and Review Section, General Distribution Department, and Finance Office, and was initially headed by Zhu Rongsheng. On July 14, 1932, Zhu Rongsheng was ordered to leave the bureau, and Zhang Renya took over. In December of the same year, while inspecting work in Changting en route from Ruijin, Director Zhang Renya fell ill, received unsuccessful medical treatment, and passed away.

Under the management of the Central Publishing Bureau, a large number of newspapers, magazines, and books on party and government affairs, military matters, economics, culture and education, as well as healthcare and sanitation were published and distributed in the Central Soviet Area. These played an important role in promoting revolutionary ideals, enriching public life, and consolidating the Soviet regime. According to incomplete statistics, during the Central Soviet Area period, over 400 types of publications and more than 130 types of newspapers and magazines were issued. The Central Publishing Bureau was not only responsible for managing publishing and distribution but also frequently published books itself, such as works including "Issues of Peasants," "Thirty Years of Bolshevism," "On Party Purges," and "Political Economy."

In April 1933, the Central Publishing Bureau moved its offices from here to Shazhouba. This former site was restored and opened to the public in 1991 and is now a cultural relic protection unit of Ruijin City.

Shazhouba Town: Located in the western suburbs of Ruijin City, Shazhouba Town is 3 kilometers from the city center and is named after the natural village of Shazhouba. The town covers a total area of 65 square kilometers, including 15,942 mu of arable land and 95,779 mu of forested land. It governs 12 administrative villages, 150 villager groups, and has a total of 5,629 households with a population of 24,018.
