Ruicheng August 1st Uprising Troops' Battle Site in Rentian

The Ruicheng August 1st Uprising Troops' Battle Site in Rentian is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism destination.

On August 3, 1927, the troops of the August 1st Nanchang Uprising, led by Zhou Enlai, He Long, Ye Ting, Zhu De, Liu Bocheng, and others, evacuated Nanchang and headed south through southern Jiangxi toward Chaoshan, Guangdong. On the morning of August 25, the 20th Army led by He Long arrived in Rentian from Shicheng. Around 10 a.m., they encountered the 20th Reorganized Division of the Nationalist Party, commanded by Wang Wenhhan, at Shuangbalingzi in Rentian Town. After three hours of fierce fighting, they defeated three regiments of the enemy, captured hundreds of soldiers and officers, and seized hundreds of rifles. The next day, the uprising troops successfully occupied Ruicheng County and pursued the remaining forces of Wang to Huichang. After the victory at the Battle of Huichang, the uprising troops returned to Ruicheng on August 30. At this time, the Front Committee of the August 1st Uprising approved the party membership applications of He Long and Guo Moruo in Ruicheng. On September 7, the uprising troops advanced toward Changting, Fujian, via Anzhi.
