Former Site of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC

The former site of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC is a cultural relic protection unit of Ruijin City.

The former site of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC is located on Yanjiang Road, Yanhu Road Neighborhood Committee, Bahu Road, Xianghu Town, Ruijin City, Jiangxi Province. It is now a private residence owned by Liu Kaifa, facing east and situated to the west. The structure is made of brick and wood, with a gable and hip roof, covering an area of 107 square meters.

In late August 1927, when the Nanchang Uprising troops passed through Ruijin, the Ruijin Branch of the CPC was established, with Liu Zhong’en as the secretary. In June 1930, the First Congress of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC was held, establishing the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC. Its office was located here, and Comrade Deng Xiping was elected as the first secretary of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC. In August 1931, Deng Xiaoping took charge of the work of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC. He swiftly addressed the errors of the expanded “purge campaign” (targeting the so-called “AB Group” and “Social Democratic Party”) initiated by Li Tianfu, the then secretary of the Ruijin County Committee of the CPC, and rehabilitated the wronged revolutionary cadres. In May 1932, Comrade Deng Xiaoping was transferred from Ruijin. In October 1934, after the main forces of the Red Army moved on, the county committee relocated to Tongbo Mountain in Jiubao. This site was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Ruijin City in 1991.

Xianghu Town: Located in the central part of Ruijin City, Xianghu Town is the seat of the Ruijin Municipal Committee and Municipal Government. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was named Xianghu (meaning “elephant-shaped lake”) due to its terrain resembling an elephant and its numerous ponds. The town covers a total area of 34.5 square kilometers (with an urban area of 18 square kilometers), and governs 8 administrative villages, 11 communities, and 247 groups, with a total population of 235,000, including 39,000 agricultural residents. The town’s Party Committee oversees 1 general branch and 28 branches, with 2,253 Party members. The local industries mainly include logistics and warehousing, tourism services, construction labor, construction machinery, garment processing, and vegetable farming.
