Former Site of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Sixth CPC Central Committee in Shazhouba

The Former Site of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Sixth CPC Central Committee in Shazhouba is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province and a classic red tourism attraction.

This is a former private residence of the Yang family, built in 1879, and served as the site of the Central Politburo of the Communist Party of China (also known as the “CPC Central Committee”).

In January 1933, the Provisional Central Committee of the CPC moved here from Shanghai, and in April of the same year, it began joint operations with the Central Bureau of the Chinese Soviet Area, which had relocated from Yeping.

From January 15 to 18, 1934, the Provisional Central Committee of the CPC held the Fifth Plenary Session of the Sixth CPC Central Committee in Huangzhukan, Shazhouba, Ruijin. During the session, additional Central Committee members and alternate members were elected, the Politburo was re-elected, the Secretariat of the Central Committee was established, and new departments such as the Department of Work in White Areas were added. Twelve members were elected to the Central Politburo: Bo Gu, Zhang Wentian, Zhou Enlai, Wang Jiaxiang, Xiang Ying, Chen Shaoyu, Chen Yun, Ren Bishi, Mao Zedong, and Gu Zuolin. Bo Gu, Zhang Wentian, Zhou Enlai, and Xiang Ying were elected as members of the Secretariat, with Bo Gu serving as General Secretary, officially establishing the Central Politburo of the CPC. In July 1934, the Central Politburo moved to Yunshi Mountain.
