Former Site of the Communication School of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army

The Former Site of the Communication School of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province and a classic red tourism destination.

In 1998, the Ruijin County People's Government approved the Yang Ancestral Hall as the "Former Site of the Headquarters of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army School." The following year, the memorial site also designated three nearby ancient ancestral halls as the former sites of the Red Army School’s Political Department, Administrative Office, and Instruction Office, respectively, erecting plaques and stone markers for their protection.

The Communication School of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was a school founded by the Central Military Commission of the Chinese Soviet Republic during the Agrarian Revolutionary War to train communication officers for the Red Army. Over 70 years ago, under the care of proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, and Deng Xiaoping, and under the direct leadership of Wang Zheng, a founding figure of the military’s signal corps, the Communication School of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was established in Ruijin. From February 1931 to October 1934, the school operated under extremely harsh conditions, growing and developing through anti-encirclement campaigns. It trained over 2,100 personnel in various communication roles including radio telegraphy, radio mechanics, buglers, and signal flag operators. The school made indelible contributions to establishing communication links across the Red Army’s various fronts and base areas, ensuring command of the anti-encirclement operations by the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, safeguarding the Red Army’s survival during the Long March, achieving victory in China’s revolutionary war, and establishing New China. It served as the cradle of the Red Army’s red communication talent.
