The Former Site of the Central Labor Affairs Commission of the Chinese Soviet Republic is a classic red tourism destination.

The Central Labor Affairs Commission of the Chinese Soviet Republic was founded in November 1931. At that time, the Labor Department was housed in the temporary central government hall at Yeping. In April 1933, it moved with the temporary central government to Xinchating in Shazhouba. In July 1934, it relocated to Niuluxia New House at Yunshishan, and in October of the same year, it moved northward with the temporary central government to resist Japan. Xiang Ying and Deng Zhenxun served successively as ministers of labor, while Liu Shaoqi and Zhu Rongsheng had previously held the position of deputy minister.

To inherit and carry forward the glorious traditions of labor and social security work in the Central Soviet Area, the then Ministry of Labor and Social Security funded the reconstruction of the former site to match its original appearance. The project commenced on May 21, 2001, and was completed on September 20 of the same year. All indoor exhibits were replicated according to their original state.

In 2001, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in a gesture of gratitude and to trace its roots, allocated a special fund of 800,000 yuan to restore the Former Site of the Central Labor Affairs Commission of the Chinese Soviet Republic in Ruijin. It also established an exhibition hall for historical materials of the Labor Affairs Commission, and designated both the former site and the exhibition hall as a national patriotic and revolutionary tradition education base for the labor and social security system.

On November 23, 2007, Tian Chengping, then Minister of the former Ministry of Labor and Social Security, visited Ruijin, the Red Capital, for an inspection. During his visit, he paid close attention to the construction of the National Patriotic Education Base for the Labor and Social Security System in Ruijin (the Former Site of the Central Labor Affairs Commission of the Chinese Soviet Republic), and specifically instructed the allocation of special funds for the renovation of the Labor History Exhibition Hall of the Chinese Soviet Republic.
