Former Site of the National Bank of the Chinese Soviet Republic

The former site of the National Bank of the Chinese Soviet Republic is located in Yeping Village, Yeping Township, Ruijin City.

In 1932, the National Bank of the Chinese Soviet Republic was officially established in Ruijin, marking the beginning of the red financial industry under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and writing a magnificent chapter in the history of red finance.

In February 1932, the National Bank began operations in Yeping, Ruijin, under the leadership of President Mao Zemin. It successively issued banknotes in five denominations—1 yuan, 5 jiao, 2 jiao, 1 jiao, and 5 fen—and minted 2 jiao and 1 fen copper coins. It also offered deposit and loan services and issued two issues of Revolutionary War public bonds and one issue of Economic Construction public bonds.

Since 1990, the People's Bank of China has allocated funds on two occasions to restore the former sites of the Yeping National Bank, the National Treasury, the Yangxi Central Mint, and the former site of the National Bank in Shazhouba, as well as to establish the Central Revolutionary Base Monetary History Exhibition Room.

In February 1932, the National Bank of the Chinese Soviet Republic officially commenced operations in Ruijin. It was the first national bank established by a revolutionary regime under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and marked a great milestone in building China’s socialist financial system. Despite the extremely challenging conditions at the time, the bank actively established a Soviet financial system, unified the currency across the revolutionary base areas, and provided deposit, loan, and remittance services. It also managed the national treasury and handled the issuance of public bonds, playing a crucial role in supporting the revolutionary war, developing the economy of the base areas, and consolidating the Soviet government.

In April 1933, the National Bank relocated to Shazhouba. The former site was restored and opened to the public in 1991. It is now a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
