Fuhui Temple

Fuhui Temple is located on Tashan (Pagoda Mountain) in Qianpu, Yingtian Village, Datou Town, Xiuyu District. The mountain was originally called Xishan (Sun Mountain), but due to the many uniquely shaped rock formations stacked together resembling a lighthouse, it came to be known as Tashan. At the foot of the mountain, there are three stone caves containing three stone Buddhist statues from the Ming Dynasty, which have been worshipped by devout followers since ancient times. The temple grounds feature 16 structures including the Xiling Palace, Fengyun Palace, East and West Pagodas, the Three Treasures Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Jade Emperor Hall, the Sun and Moon Pavilion, and the Meiling Palace. These enshrine deities such as Mazu, Yuangui Daren, the Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, and Li Bao, forming a multi-faith complex. With a main axis and twin pagodas, the temple is majestic during the day and illuminated brilliantly at night, showcasing the ancient site’s renewed splendor.

“A mountain need not be high — it is famous so long as there is an immortal.” This mountain stands just over 200 meters tall. Today, a cement road leads directly to the temple gate, making transportation convenient and turning the site into a popular tourist destination.
