Guanyin Hall of Songshan Temple

Guanyin Hall of Songshan Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Guanyin Hall of Songshan Temple is located on Songshan Mountain in Dongzhuang Town, Xiuyu District. Originally built in the first year of Daguan during the Song Dynasty (1107), the existing structure dates to the Qing Dynasty. It features a nine-bay width and two-bay depth, with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof made of wood and stone. The temple preserves one Qing Dynasty stone stele and one Yuan Dynasty stone tablet from the ninth year of Zhi Zheng (1349).

The affiliated relics in the temple include an ancient camphor wood statue of Goddess Chen Jinggu carved in the second year of Xianping during the Song Dynasty (999), a tomb path stele of Lu Xiufu’s cenotaph, the “Putmint Li Quan Xiangshan Academy Stele Inscription” written and composed by Guo Shangxian of the Qing Dynasty, as well as the hand-written gate plaques “Shulin” (Forest of Books) and “Yiyuan” (Art Garden). There are also several cliff inscriptions from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and an ancient well from the Song Dynasty on the mountain. Guanyin Hall of Songshan Temple was designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2013.
