Puxi Tianfei Palace

Puxi Tianfei Palace is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Puxi Tianfei Palace is located in Beimen Natural Village, Puxi Village, Shanting Township, North Bank. It was established in the third year of the Shaoshing era of the Song Dynasty (1292), originally named “Chongfu Lady Temple.” It was renovated in the 20th year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1387). When Puxi City was constructed, it was renamed “Tianfei Palace.” The building follows a two-courtyard, corridor-pillared layout. It faces northwest from the southeast, with an overall width of 14.42 meters, a total depth of 22.98 meters, and a construction area of 416.15 square meters. The main structures along the central axis include the front courtyard, front hall, front patio, middle hall, rear patio, and main hall. It features a flush-gable roof and a timber-earth structure. The front hall is five bays wide and three bays deep; the middle hall is also five bays wide and three bays deep; the main hall is five bays wide and five bays deep, with a post-and-lintel and Dougong (interlocking wooden brackets) wooden frame. The architecture retains the style of the early Ming Dynasty. The palace houses a wooden statue of Mazu carved during the Song Dynasty, as well as cultural relics such as couplets from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and embroidered fabrics from the Xianfeng era. It is one of the Taiwan-related cultural heritage sites, providing physical material for the study of ancient local architecture in Putian. The Puxi City Wall was designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 1996.
