Former Site of Dongqiao Salt Farmers' School

The former site of the Dongqiao Salt Farmers' School is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Dongqiao Salt Farmers' School is located in Group 6, Qianqin Village, Dongqiao Town, Xiuyu District, Putian City.

The Putian Qianqin Salt Field was a base where the Putian Party organization carried out activities during the revolutionary period. From 1932 to 1933, the Putian County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party founded the Qianqin Salt Field Salt Farmers' School at Puying Pavilion in Qianqin Village, Dongqiao. Xu Yuqing served as the principal, teaching salt farmers to read and write, and organizing them to resist taxes and levies. Comrade Su Hua also taught here. In June 1949, Lin Runan, the deputy secretary in charge of the Minzhong Working Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, sent underground party member Chen Xuehua to the Putian Qianqin Salt Field to carry out persuasion work, promoting the Party’s uprising policy to the field director. With the close cooperation of the Putian County Committee, the persuasion effort succeeded. On August 19, all 400 officers and soldiers of the Putian Salt Police Battalion announced their uprising, accepted the induction of the Putian Guerrilla Battalion, and later participated in taking over the Putian County Government.

The Puying Pavilion at the former site of the Dongqiao Salt Farmers' School is a Qing Dynasty structure, single-story with a brick-and-wood frame, covering an area of 400 square meters.

Qianqin Village: The Qianqin Village Committee is located 4.1 kilometers west of the Dongqiao Town seat in Xiuyu District, Putian City, Fujian Province, situated between the Liangcuo and Dongxing Village Committees. The committee office is in the Qianqin natural village. Qianqin Village is a revolutionary base village, one of the resettlement sites for migrants from the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, and a key thoroughfare into and out of Dongqiao Town.
