Qidu Stream

The scenic area is located midway between Fuzhou and Wenzhou, two economically developed regions. Qidu Stream also sits at the midpoint between two major scenic destinations, Yandang Mountain and Mount Wuyi. It is adjacent to the under-construction National Highway 104 coastal expressway and is 40 kilometers from Sansha Port. Among its attractions, the “Yangjia Stream Scenic Area” is situated in the northwest of Yacheng Town and is an important part of the national-level scenic area of Mount Taimu, which features the three major sightseeing zones of “mountain, sea, and river.”

The stream stretches over 20 kilometers with crystal-clear waters, where pools, rapids, and shoals alternate along its course. The area boasts verdant mountains and emerald waters, with rare trees and vibrant seasonal flowers. Clusters of camphor trees, maple trees, banyans, flowered bamboo, myriad bamboo, golden bamboo, azaleas, boxwoods, and reeds thrive here. There are more than 30 cultural landscapes, such as “Wenguang Splits the Boat,” “Golden Turtle Teasing the Turtle,” and “Guanyin Sitting on a Lotus,” all vividly and exquisitely rendered. The stream is abundant with freshwater delicacies including sweetfish, dragon eel, hairy crabs, soft-shelled turtles, and carp, as well as rare animals such as mandarin ducks, ribbon birds, and otters.

The scenic area is home to residents of the She ethnic group. The Guanyin Pavilion Fort in the middle reaches serves as the sole gathering site for She people from Xiapu, Fu’an, and Fuding counties and cities to hold their traditional “singing festivals” on the 15th day of the first lunar month and the 8th day of the fourth lunar month each year.
