Guanyin Pavilion Fort

Guanyin Pavilion Fort is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Ming to Qing

Address: 300 meters east of Banling Village, Shuimen Township, Xiapu County, Ningde City, Fujian Province.

Commonly known as Guanlu Pavilion or Banling Pavilion, Guanyin Pavilion was first built in the second year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1369). The fort follows the mountain’s contour, with walls constructed along the northeast direction using cut stones and rough rocks. Remnants of the wall still stand 118 meters long and 5.4 meters high. There is only an eastern gate, above which a stone lintel is inscribed with four regular-script characters “Guanyin Pavilion Fort,” each two Chinese feet square. Outside the pavilion gate, there are 16 stone steles. During the Qing Dynasty, soldiers were stationed here by the Funing Regional Commander. In 1986, it was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Xiapu County.
