Luohansi

Luohansi is situated within Songgang Subdistrict and is the second-largest river in Xiapu County, only 7 kilometers from the county town. The main stream is 38 kilometers long, originating from Yangtian Tubotou Village in Baiyang Township, flowing from northwest to southeast through Hengjiang, Xinan, and Yangshaxi. It meets the Tongyouxi tributary at Wukengyan in Xiacun, Songgang Subdistrict, then flows out via Shuimokeng and Daqiaotou into Hougang Sea. It is named after the nearby Luohanshan Mountain.

The scenic area primarily features the natural ecological landscape along both banks of the lower reaches of Luohansi River. The upper section spans: ① from Wukengyan in Xiacun to 1.5 kilometers upstream of Longtan Temple, and ② from the confluence of Wukengyan and Tongyouxi to 3.5 kilometers upstream of Yangshaxi. The lower section extends to Qiaotou Village, covering a river length of 12.8 kilometers. The area encompasses the first mountain ridge on both sides of the stream, with a total scenic zone area of approximately 26 square kilometers.

The scenic area boasts a rich and beautiful array of natural landscapes including peculiar peaks, strange rocks, canyons, potholes, waterfalls, clear streams, jade-green pools, bamboo forests, ancient trees, and egrets, as well as numerous cultural sites such as Taoist temples, Buddhist monasteries, ancient bridges, and local legends.

Among these, the magical and steep river canyon landscapes and the serene beauty of the clear streams and bamboo forests form a unique, rugged, elegant, and picturesque natural ecological environment. The pothole clusters are particularly distinctive and hold significant geographical research value, making this a region abundant in tourism resources.

Songgang Subdistrict: Established on January 15, 2004, Songgang Subdistrict administers 2 communities, 25 village committees, 262 villager groups, and 20 resident groups, with a permanent population of 12,590 households and 46,800 people. The subdistrict has 43 Party branches and 1,170 Party members. Its administrative and public institutions currently employ 110 staff members, including 47 retirees. The area borders Funing Bay to the southeast and Longshou Mountain to the northwest. The urban boundary is delineated by Dongwu Road in Xiapu County’s urban area, connecting to Songcheng Subdistrict to the west.
