Dong'an Fish Rafts

Dong'an Fish Rafts are known as the “Venice of the Sea.” From Dong'an Wharf, it takes just 10 minutes by fishing boat to reach the opposite Dong'an Island or Youcai Islet for photography. Here, tens of thousands of mailboxes and hundreds of small wooden houses form a floating fish raft community on the sea—essentially a town afloat, akin to a small maritime neighborhood. This area boasts the highest concentration of fish rafts in Xiapu, offering an especially spectacular sight.

Transportation

To photograph the fish rafts on Dong'an Island, you’ll need to take a bus from Taijiang Wharf. To get to Taijiang from Xiapu, take a bus headed for Xinan from the Xiapu Interdistrict Bus Station (located on Funing Avenue, also called the South Road Bus Station). The bus passes through Taijiang, with a fare of 13 RMB and a journey time of about 1 hour.
