Sansha Town is a cultural heritage site protected by Xiapu County.

Sansha is an important town in the coastal region of Fujian Province. The Gucheng Port, located at the northeast corner of Sansha Town, is a well-known deep-water harbor. The port spans 800 meters in width and 2,500 meters in length, with the main channel reaching a depth of 15–44 meters. The harbor enjoys calm waters, capable of accommodating ships weighing several tens of thousands of tons. It has now become a docking terminal for large passenger ferries traveling between Shanghai and Fuzhou, with frequent ship traffic that strengthens the connections between Xiapu and various regions across the north and south. Sansha faces Taiwan across the sea. The people on both sides share similar languages, bloodlines, and customs. Local and Taiwanese fishermen often work in the same fishing grounds. An increasing number of Taiwanese visit Sansha to take shelter from storms, repair their boats, and engage in maritime trade, making Sansha an important port for trade between Fujian Province and Taiwan.
