Location: Zhujian Village and Xiaoma Village, Shajiang Town, Xiapu County

Introduction: Also known as Dalu Bridge, it is a stone bridge connecting the mainland with Zhujian Island. The bridge runs east-west. Since the road and bridge are built on tidal flats, they are submerged under seawater during high tide and only passable during low tide, hence the name "Xilu Bridge" (Tidal Bridge). It was first proposed by local gentry Zheng Xiuxuan during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, and after 13 years, Zheng Qiang’ang invested heavily to complete its construction in the 16th year of the Jiaqing era (1811). It was later destroyed by ocean tides. His son, Zheng Qiongsen, carried out three major renovations before it became passable again. Due to the muddy conditions of the coastal flats, the foundation was reinforced with pine piles, layered with miscellaneous wood and sod, then paved with horizontal and vertical layers of stone slabs totaling three tiers. The total length is 3,651 meters, with the widest section being 1.8 meters. It passes over six bridges, the tallest of which reaches 2.9 meters. Among them, four bridges feature double-layered arches, with small side holes that serve to drain and protect against tidal water — a rare example of coastal stone-paved road and bridge architecture in China.

Protected area: 50 meters extending outward from all sides of the bridge.

In 2009, Zhujian Xilu Bridge was designated as part of the seventh batch of Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government.
