Feilu Pagoda

Feilu Pagoda is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Feilu Pagoda is located in Beiyang Village, Yantian She Ethnic Township, Xiapu County, and dates back to the Ming Dynasty.

Description: Built in the sixth year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1374), it faces south and is a single-story square stone pagoda. It stands 3 meters tall in total, with a base that is 0.95 meters high and 0.90 meters wide, and a body that is 0.90 meters high and 1.22 meters wide. The niche door is flanked by inscriptions in regular script, carved in intaglio: “Purity, Radiance, Great Power, Wisdom” and the date of construction, among others, with characters approximately 0.1 meter in size. The niche houses three shallow-relief statues—the central Buddha statue’s head has been damaged, standing 0.6 meters tall; the two smaller flanking Buddha statues are 0.4 meters tall. This pagoda is a remnant of the Mingjiao (Manichaean) faith.

In 2013, Feilu Pagoda was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
