Baiyun Peak Scenic Area is located 15 kilometers southwest of Guangze County. It consists of more than ten continuous peaks, with the main peak standing at an elevation of 1,088 meters, towering majestically into the clouds, creating a spectacular sight. This area belongs to a high-altitude cold zone, where low temperatures cause thick clouds and fog to form, shrouding the region in mist all year round. Especially during dawn and dusk, the valleys are filled with swirling mists, as clouds rise and spread, blending into the sky, as if draping the peaks in a mysterious veil of fog, leaving behind a beautiful dreamlike vision for the world. Even on clear days, the mists only begin to gradually disperse around noon, revealing the true face of the peaks. From a distance below the peaks, the mountaintops are always surrounded by layers of white clouds that linger for a long time—an extraordinary sight indeed.

Beneath the white clouds, the green peaks, villages, farmland, bamboo forests, and rivers form a vivid, dynamic painting of a mountain landscape—serene, elegant, and tranquil, inspiring deep yearning. Ascending the mountain to view the clouds is a major delight for visitors. As you venture deep into the mountains, you’ll find ancient trees towering overhead, as if entering a primeval forest. Known as the “Ten-Thousand-Mu Ecological Forest,” centuries-old pines, firs, camphor trees, sandalwoods, cypresses, osmanthus, and apricot trees are found everywhere. Some are as large as giant umbrellas, forming dense canopies that block out the sunlight, making people feel like small boats drifting in a sea of green. The trail from the mountain’s base to the summit stretches about 5 kilometers, featuring over 7,000 man-made stone steps and long mountain paths, passing through three scenic sections: the Three Immortals Pavilion, Stone Pavilion, and Baiyun Pavilion. The valleys are deep, streams crisscross, and the rocks undulate dramatically, presenting astonishingly steep terrain.

Mountain winds rage through the valleys and forests, producing eerie sounds. No matter where you go, you’re enveloped in clouds and mist, everything appearing hazy—even objects just a few meters away are invisible, making it unclear whether you're in the mountains or floating among the clouds. It is precisely due to the area's unique terrain and climate that Baiyun Peak boasts such a rich and spectacular sea of clouds. Upon reaching the Baiyun Pavilion at the peak—the best spot for cloud viewing—you’ll see a world painted in uniform haze. Below your feet lies a vast expanse of rolling sea of clouds, with masses of white clouds drifting continuously around you. You may try to reach out and hold them, but they gently slip away, leaving you with a wistful feeling. Sometimes it feels like you’re sailing a boat, drifting in the sea of clouds, immensely soothing; other times, it’s as if a gauzy veil is lightly draped over you, giving a sensation of floating above the world, serene and carefree. One feels as though soaring through a silver-hued dream, hearing only the soft whisper of the mountain wind, the gentle murmur of pine springs, and the delicate chirping of birds, as if listening to a moving symphony—transporting you to what feels like a heavenly realm.
