Introduction: Initially built in the first year of the Guangming era of the Tang Dynasty (880), it was historically known as the "Western Gate of Ou and Min" and the "First Pass of Western Min." In the third year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1370), a city wall was constructed along the mountain ridge to serve as a barrier at the Fujian-Jiangxi border. Remnants of the battlements on both flanks still exist. The surviving gate section of the pass has walls 6.5 meters thick and 3.3 meters high; the original stone plaque above the gate inscribed with "First Pass of Western Min" is still preserved.

Protected area: Extends 20 meters outward on both the inner and outer sides of the city wall.

In 2009, Shan Pass was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Shan Pass Village: Shan Pass Village is an administrative village located at the Fujian-Jiangxi border in Zhima Town, Guangze County, with the Shuishan Highway running east to west through it. To the east is the Zhima Town area, to the south is Yangli Village in Lifang Township, to the west is Feiyuan Village in Houcun Township, Jiangxi Province, and to the north is Renhou Village in the same town. The village covers an area of approximately 3 square kilometers, with mountainous land spanning 11,370 mu and cultivated land covering 1,799.7 mu. It consists of 6 villager groups, 7 natural villages, a population of 1,561, and 413 households. Historically known as the "Western Gate of Ou and Min," the "First Pass of Western Min" and the city wall from the Guangxu era are located at Shan Pass, a mountain pass 2 kilometers from the town area.
