Former Site of the Soviet Government of Shuixian County

The former site of the Soviet Government of Shuixian County is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province and a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Soviet Government of Shuixian County is located on Er Yi Qi Road, Hangchuan Town, Shuixian County, dating back to 1933.

Description: In October 1933, the First Workers', Peasants' and Soldiers' Congress of the Soviet Government of Shuixian County was held here, with Mao Zemin attending to provide guidance on behalf of the Fujian-Gan Provincial Committee and the Provincial Soviet Government. The site is a two-story Western-style building facing west, consisting of a front porch, main gate, central hall, rear hall, and more, covering an area of 228 square meters. The front porch has three arched windows on each floor; the central hall is flanked by offices of the Soviet Government, while the first floor of the rear hall has the dispatch office and internal affairs department on the right side, and the judiciary, economic, and sales departments on the left. The upper floor houses a meeting room and bedrooms.

In 2013, the former site of the Soviet Government of Shuixian County was announced by the People's Government of Fujian Province as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites.

Protected area: An extension of 10 meters around the site in all directions.

Hangchuan Town: Hangchuan Town is located in the southeastern part of the county. The original town government was situated in Hangzhong (the middle section of Er Yi Qi Road) and was relocated to Zhenling Street in March 1994. It covers a total area of 13 square kilometers with a population of 38,000. Since the establishment of the county in the fourth year of the Taiping Xingguo era during the Northern Song Dynasty (979), it has always been the county seat. During the li and du tu administrative divisions, this area belonged to Yidu (which was not part of a li). Also, because it was directly governed by the county seat, it was also called Zaidu.
