Zhaili Town: The Origin of the Town’s Name

The seat of Zhaili Town government, Zhaili Street, was named after a stockade that once stood at the entrance of the old village, which was divided into inner and outer sections—hence the name “Zhaili” (literally “inner stockade”). It was also formerly called Chahu (Teapot), named for its historical tea production, and later evolved into Chafu (Tea Wealth). Zhaili Town was once known as Chafu Commune.
