Hangchuan Town: Hangchuan Town is situated in the southeastern part of the county. The original town government was located in Hangzhong (middle section of Er-Yi Qi Road), but was relocated to Zhenling Street in March 1994. It covers a total area of 13 square kilometers with a population of 38,000. Since the establishment of the county in the fourth year of the Taiping Xingguo era of the Northern Song Dynasty (979), it has always served as the county seat. During the historical li and du-tu administrative divisions, this area belonged to Yidu (Yidu was not part of any li). Also, because it was directly governed by the county seat, it was also called Zaidu. It administered eight urban fangs and three suburban tu.
