Hangchuan Town: Hangchuan Town is situated in the southeastern part of the county. The town government was originally located in Hangzhong (the middle section of 217 Road) and was relocated to Zhenling Street in March 1994. Covering a total area of 13 square kilometers with a population of 38,000, it has served as the county seat since the establishment of the county in the fourth year of the Taiping Xingguo era during the Northern Song Dynasty (979). During the ancient li and du system, the area belonged to Yidu (which was not part of any li). As it was directly governed by the county seat, it was also referred to as Zaidu.
