Fujian Zhangzhou National Geopark

Fujian Zhangzhou National Geopark is a national geopark.

Fujian Zhangzhou Coastal Volcano National Geopark is located along the coastal areas of Zhangpu County and Longhai County in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, covering a total area of 318.64 square kilometers. The main type of geological heritage is volcanic landforms.

The basalt formed by volcanic eruptions over tens of thousands of years constitutes typical volcanic geological and geomorphological landscapes. The sequence of eruptions is clear, the volcanic craters are typical and well-preserved, and there are rare rootless fumarole groups, vesicular column clusters, as well as columnar jointing formations composed of 1.4 million giant hexagonal basalt columns. There are also various types of marine erosion landforms, multiple high-quality beaches, and carbonized wood layers from an ancient forest dating back 8,000 years. It is an extremely valuable volcanic geological heritage site, of great scientific importance for studying the developmental history of the volcanic rock belt in the Western Pacific. At the same time, it serves as an important base for tourism, vacationing, and science education.

3 Cultural Landscapes Edited Within the geopark, there are also notable cultural attractions such as the Zhao Family Fortress and the Tomb of Huang Daozhou. Coupled with its proximity to Xiamen City and convenient transportation, these factors have created superior conditions for the development of the geopark.
