Morning Light on the Sunny Tower

The "Morning Light on the Sunny Tower" scene refers to the Archway of the First Market in Eastern Beijing. This archway is located at the southern end of the strip market on Dongcheng Road. It features a traditional four-pillar, three-bay, seven-story design, with a mixed wood-and-concrete structure and a glazed tile roof, standing 16 meters tall and spanning 18 meters wide. The central marble plaque on the front of the archway bears the name “First Market in Eastern Beijing,” personally inscribed by the former Mayor of Tianjin; the back is engraved with the calligraphy “Like a Dyke, Like a Capital” by the renowned calligrapher Qi Gong. Behind the archway are a stele pavilion, a garden, and rockeries. At sunrise, the morning sun and the tiles of the tower create a picturesque scene.
