Lingtong Mountain is a national scenic area.

With massive rocks reaching towards the sky above and deep valleys with clear springs below, Lingtong Mountain is exceptionally steep and majestic—an extremely rare sight. Known as the “No. 1 Mountain in Southern Fujian,” Lingtong Mountain was included in the list of national geoparks in 2011 and designated as part of the eighth batch of national scenic areas in 2012. According to expert surveys, the mountain’s terrain is a type of deeply dissected mid-mountain landform formed 113 million years ago through continental sedimentation and multiple volcanic eruptions. It is a tourist destination integrating sightseeing, religious pilgrimage, mountaineering, and summer retreats.

Located in the southwest of Pinghe County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province—the “Citrus Capital of China”—its main attractions are in Daxi Town. The mountain is 56 kilometers from Pinghe County and 116 kilometers from downtown Zhangzhou. The scenic area spans 36.36 square kilometers, with an average elevation of 500–600 meters. Its main peak, Qingtian Peak, rises 1,281.4 meters above sea level, standing opposite Zhangzhou’s highest peak, Daqin Mountain (1,552 meters). The area is characterized by four major features: perilous peaks, unique rocks, clear springs, and drifting clouds. Seven major peaks all soar directly into the sky. Its lion-shaped, Manjushri-shaped, eagle-beak-shaped, arhat-shaped, python-shaped, and elephant-wall-shaped rock formations appear as if carved, chiseled, or inlaid with divine craftsmanship, lifelike and vivid. Notably, the world’s “No. 1 Natural Giant Buddha Head” at 321 meters and the “Pearl Curtain Rain Thousand-Meter Waterfall” are unique highlights of the scenic area.

Daxi Town: Located in the southwest of Pinghe County, Daxi Town borders Anhou Township to the east, Jiufeng Town to the west, Guoqiang Township to the north, and the counties of Yunxiao and Zhao’an to the south. It covers a total area of 139 square kilometers and currently governs 25 village committees, 214 villager groups, 11,925 households, and 49,303 residents. The main river, Daxi River, originates from the foothills of Daqin Mountain and flows through the entire town. Daxi is a town with a relatively large overseas Chinese and Taiwanese population, many of whom reside in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The town is well known for its traditional products—cast iron pots, dried tofu, and rice noodles—which have a long history and are celebrated as the “Three Treasures of Daxi.”
