● Hwaseong Mun'gwang Reservoir
Hwaseong Mun'gwang Reservoir boasts a famously picturesque ginkgo-lined avenue. The trees are covered in golden leaves that flutter in the wind, creating a truly romantic scene. From mid-October onward, visitors come in droves to admire the ginkgo trees—some stroll among the golden foliage, while others sit quietly by the water fishing. ●● Gyeonggi Province’s Mount Yeongmun
Not far from Seoul, the valley of Mount Yeongmun in Gyeonggi Province is surrounded by countless green plants such as pine trees and ferns. Walking under the tree shade feels incredibly refreshing. At the end of the valley trail lies “Yeongmun Temple,” behind which stands Asia’s tallest ginkgo tree at 60 meters, towering over the valley and temple. With an estimated age of around 1,100 years, it is said to have been planted by the last king of the Silla Dynasty. Particularly during the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejong exceptionally bestowed the title of “Junior Third Rank” (a title normally reserved for high-ranking officials) upon this ginkgo tree. To fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of this place, you can participate in temple stay programs, meditating quietly under the ginkgo trees and enjoying the serenity of the mind.

The stunning ginkgo avenue of Bulguksa Temple is renowned far and wide. Especially in late autumn, the paths leading to various parts of the temple are covered with golden fallen leaves. The tranquil ginkgo avenue of Bulguksa Temple is filled with Buddhist ambiance and a sense of mystery. Whenever a monk walks alone through it, it feels as though you’ve stepped into a captivating oil painting.
