Futing Architectural Complex

The Futing Architectural Complex is a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province.

The Futing Architectural Complex is located in Futing Village, Xiufeng Township, Pinghe County, dating from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China period.

Introduction: It consists of eight structures: Wanshun Grand Mansion, Maogui Garden, Liuxiu Tower, Guanlan Pavilion, Xuri Dongsheng Mansion, Shoushan Songxiu Tower, Juikui Tower, and Qinmu Hall. Among these, Wanshun Grand Mansion, Maogui Garden, Liuxiu Tower, Guanlan Pavilion, Xuri Dongsheng Mansion, and Shoushan Songxiu Tower are courtyard-style residences, Juikui Tower is an earth building residence, and Qinmu Hall is an ancestral hall. The construction periods of these buildings span the early, middle, and late Qing Dynasty, except for Juikui Tower, which was built in 1936 (the 25th year of the Republic of China) by overseas Chinese from Thailand. Wanshun Grand Mansion served as the temporary quarters for Zhu De and his troops during the Nanchang Uprising when they retreated into Fujian in 1927 and passed through Futing.

Protected Area: Maogui Garden, Liuxiu Tower, Guanlan Pavilion, and Wanshun Grand Mansion are protected as a contiguous area, with the surrounding protected zone defined as follows: east to the lane on the east side of Deyang Residence, south to the lane in front of Nanyang Tower and Liuxiu Tower, extending 9 meters outward from the back wall of Wanshun Grand Mansion, west to the west side of Panggui Tower, and north to the old Nanshan Street and the front wall of Wanshun Grand Mansion. Qinmu Hall: extends 15 meters east, 25 meters south, 5 meters west, and 15 meters north. Xuri Dongsheng Mansion: extends 22 meters east, 13 meters south, 19 meters west, and 9 meters north. Shoushan Songxiu Tower: extends 15 meters east, 10 meters south, 8 meters west, and 17 meters north. Juikui Tower: extends 40 meters east, 30 meters south, 55 meters west, and 30 meters north.

In 2018, the Futing Architectural Complex was announced by the People's Government of Fujian Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units.

Futing Village: Located at the border between Fujian and Guangdong provinces, Futing Village in Xiufeng Township served as an important stopover on ancient trade routes between the two regions. Covering an area of 3.6 square kilometers and situated over 800 meters above sea level, it borders Yongding County to the northwest and connects to Longyan Yong’an to the north and Guangdong Dabu to the south. The village enjoys beautiful surroundings, with clear mountains and rivers, a mild climate, and convenient transportation. It administers 18 villager groups, with a total population of 4,350.
