During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the local Party organization in Pinghe creatively implemented the Party’s anti-Japanese national united front policy, adhering to the principle of “concealed production, preserving core members, and accumulating strength.” In Biyue Township, Gaokeng County, Pinghe, they established the “Biyue Jianshing Reclamation Company,” which became a model for Party organizations in southwestern Fujian, and through this gained the assistance, support, and understanding of non-Party members involved in the resistance effort. A notable example of this collaboration was with Lai Bingkun, an enlightened local gentry figure in Pinghe. On December 7, 1939, Mao Zedong, Chairman of the CPC Central Committee, specially inscribed a dedication for the 10th anniversary of the Pinghe Tianli Plantation and Ranch, established by Lai Bingkun: “Create a model on the production front to defeat the Japanese invaders.” The image shows Mao Zedong’s inscription alongside the site of the Pinghe Tianli Plantation and Ranch.
