Introduction: The E’xian Cave Natural Scenic Area is located on Goose Crest Mountain in Jinshan Town, Nanjing County, over 50 kilometers from downtown Zhangzhou. Covering an area of 2 square kilometers, the scenic spot gets its name from the goose-shaped crest at the mountain’s summit. It features four major highlights: rainforest, cliffs, sea of clouds, and butterfly clusters. Renowned for its rugged beauty, ethereal serenity, and breathtaking scenery, it is one of the most famous scenic areas in southern Fujian.

On the mountain stands the long-renowned Jiuli Feizhen Temple. Legend has it that nine immortals traveled south together and, enchanted by the beautiful scenery, decided to stay and live in seclusion here. Later, during the Qingli era of Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty (1041 AD), a majestic temple with upturned eaves, carved beams, and painted rafters was built halfway up the mountain, resembling a paradise. The temple remains highly popular to this day. In addition, there are more than 20 attractions including the Luolun Ancient Path, Flying-in Pavilion, Goose Crest Overlook, Chess Rock, Spirit Turtle Sojourn, and Crane Pool. At the mountaintop lies a thousand-acre ancient subtropical rainforest. The E’xian Cave Scenic Area is widely celebrated for its unique peaks, ancient temples with soaring eaves, elegant waterfalls, and pristine rainforest.
