Autumn is the season when silvergrass bursts into bloom, its beautiful spikes swaying gracefully in the wind, standing tall against the sky. From afar, the entire landscape resembles a sea of silver waves—absolutely breathtaking.

Located at the southern end of Nanjing Railway Station, by the Bajhang River at the border of Tainan and Chiayi, this hidden silvergrass paradise has quietly come into bloom.

Silvergrass typically grows along riverbeds and streams, with its blooming season occurring between October and November. Early blooms feature reddish spikes that later turn white and pale yellow. It is most commonly found on hillsides and abandoned open areas.

Besides enjoying the blooms and taking photos at the Bajhang River’s silvergrass haven, you can also head north to visit Nanjing Railway Station and Nanjing Sugar Refinery to explore the history of the five-foot gauge railway.

The Bajhang River bank, covered with vast expanses of sweetroot pampas grass, presents a breathtaking snowy-white scene. The graceful sways of the grass in the wind are mesmerizing, and simply staring at the scenery is incredibly soothing.
