Defeng Tower

The “Changjiao Ancient Town” gained fame as the filming location of the movie *The Knot*, and “Changjiao” is also known as “Yunshuiyao.” This area was once a millennia-old route connecting the ancient Changting Prefecture to Zhangzhou Prefecture and is at the heart of the “Fujian Tulou” region. Defeng Tower is located at the bridgehead of this ancient town.

Defeng Tower functions as a sketching base for Fujian Tulou Yunshuiyao, a cross-strait (Fujian-Taiwan) film production base, and a tourist reception site. The cast and crew of the drama *Lupin Flower* and *Reflections on the Tulou* once stayed in this tulou.

Defeng Tower enjoys an excellent location, situated right within the Yunshuiyao Scenic Area. It is only about 50 meters away from the core highlight of the area—the ancient plank walkway—and approximately 300 meters from the waterwheel. Right at its entrance, you’ll find a supermarket, ticket booking points, and a bus station.

The ancient town boasts beautiful landscapes of mountains, rivers, and fields, magical architectural sights, simple local customs, and a millennia-old ancient Minnan (Hakka) culture. Summers aren’t scorching, winters aren’t harsh, the climate is spring-like all year round, and it’s a natural oxygen bar. Organic produce from the farm, along with home-brewed liquor, make it an idyllic retreat for leisure and vacation.
